New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) is a driving force in realizing this agenda. NYSERDA works with stakeholders that span residents, business owners, developers, community leaders, local government officials, universities, utilities, investors, entrepreneurs, and more, to develop, invest, and foster conditions that:

  • Attract the private sector capital investment needed to expand New York’s clean energy economy.

  • Overcome barriers to using clean energy at a large-scale in New York.

  • Enable New York’s communities and residents to benefit equitably from energy efficiency and renewable energy.

Job Overview

The Senior Project Manager will work within the Office of the Chief Program Officer and assist with program development and transformation across the Chief Program Officer’s portfolio. The person will lead or substantially contribute to cross-sector and cross-program initiatives; collaborate with numerous stakeholders on program design and modifications; and work to align program design with strategy and match resources to programs. This position will report to the Director, Program Development and Transformation. May supervise Project Managers when assigned.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead or substantially contribute to cross-sector and cross-program initiatives: The person will scope, manage, implement, and monitor performance of initiatives that cut across programs and sectors. The person will provide recommendations grounded in review of best practices, analysis, and stakeholder/market engagement to optimize interventions for greatest impact.

  • Collaborate with numerous stakeholders on program design and modifications: The person will help standardize program design considerations and processes; contribute to the design and troubleshooting of specific programs and initiatives; and identify opportunities to improve program development and delivery by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and benchmarking program activities against other entities with similar programs and/or mandates.

  • Work to align program design with strategy and match resources to programs: The person will help identify resource needs across programs and sectors and identify appropriate solutions.

  • Ability to perform all managerial and supervisory responsibilities with demonstrated experience fostering respect, diversity, equity and inclusion across the workforce.

  • Perform other tasks as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Mission-driven individual who is motivated by NYSERDA's work to solve the world’s biggest climate and environmental challenges.

  • Knowledge of and insight into decarbonization in the buildings, energy supply, and transportation sectors, including opportunities and barriers.

  • A demonstrated track record of advancing innovative decarbonization strategies and programs from concept to implementation.

  • Exemplary project management skills, with the ability to define priorities; develop and execute on workplans; balance research, analysis, and stakeholder engagement; and come up with pragmatic solutions.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability with a proactive and collaborative style.

  • Exceptional organizational, time management and planning skills to successfully handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability and appetite to learn and assimilate new information and think holistically through complex problems with technical and non-technical components.

  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally with other teams.

  • Track record for building effective partnerships and facilitating consensus-building among multiple stakeholders.

  • Top-notch presentation and interpersonal skills that resonate with audiences of different backgrounds; the ability to communicate persuasively, concisely and unambiguously in speech and writing

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Ability and willingness to travel across New York State

  • Required: Bachelors degree and 7 years' experience

  • Preferred: Masters degree and 6 years' experience

  • Travel Requirement: 10%
