About the Role

This role as a member of The New York Times tax team, is central to tax accounting and compliance initiatives for the organization’s global operations. The focus is on fostering collaboration among tax, finance, and IT departments to devise and implement the latest tax technology strategies. By optimizing operational efficiency, mitigating risks, and reducing manual work. In doing so, you will help advance our tax capabilities and report directly to the Vice President, Tax.

Responsibilities:

  • Integral member of the New York Times tax team, supporting tax accounting and compliance functions for global operations

  • Foster collaborative teamwork with tax, finance, and IT teams to implement tax technology strategies that optimize tax operations, mitigate risk, and shift tax capabilities to value added work.

  • Support financial reporting, including domestic and international income tax, FIN48, cash tax analysis, and balance sheet activities.

  • Prepare US tax provision and compliance including determining book/tax differences, leveraging data to maximize data flow and perform required tax research.

  • Provide support and training to tax team for the best practice of available technology to create efficiency, accuracy and minimize time spent on routine data processes.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of tax experience related to financial reporting and compliance with an interest in tax technology and process management.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a combination of equivalent education and work experience required

  • In-depth knowledge of tax reporting under ASC 740.

  • Experience adapting to different software systems.

  • History of technical and strategic competence

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred candidate will have a minimum of 4 years Public Accounting experience.

  • 2+ years of Tax Technology design and implementation experience

  • CPA

  • Master’s degree

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills

  • Proficient in CorpTax, One Source Tax Provision, and Workday Finance

The annual base pay range for this role is between $155,000.00 and $175,000.00.
