What you will do:
Sterling National Bank is looking for someone to plan and conduct risk weighted audit programs that include significant operational, financial, compliance and information technology functions for all areas of the bank. You will evaluate the adequacy of internal controls and operational effectiveness, reliability and accuracy of the Bank’s books and records, and regulatory reporting. Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Compile audit findings and recommend revisions to system and procedures. You can perform testing requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley Act, Section 404.
Perform a work plan of audit assignments based upon a specific quarterly schedule prepared by the Chief Auditor and completes assigned work during the measured time period in a manner sufficient to meet required standards.
Conduct detailed oriented audits of areas throughout the bank evaluating the adequacy of internal controls and operational effectiveness and efficiency.
Audits to be comprehensive and complete with work papers and findings sufficiently supported by documentation and data.
Identifies non-compliance and operational problems, deviations from policy, and other matters that reduce the effectiveness and efficiency of bank processes and programs.
Criticality of findings have been identified and addressed to the satisfaction of the chief auditor.
Prepare appropriate written reports of results, findings and recommendations. Discusses and explains rationale and/or reasoning behind report details. Results of audits have been communicated to the audited department within a scheduled time frame.
Presentations and written reports have been judged by recipients as being clear, comprehensive, and value-added, with results and recommendations fully and appropriately substantiated.
Create and/or modifies audit work programs that achieve the audit objectives by applying programs that have sufficiently established the procedures for identifying, analyzing, evaluating, and recording information during the audit. Reviews of audit reports and work papers have verified the quality of the underlying audit programs. Audit reports include objectives, scope, conclusions, and recommendations, as well as the auditor’s overall opinion in sufficient detail, background, and explanations to meet Audit Department standards.
Appraise the adequacy of action taken by operating management to correct deficient conditions. Responses from management, as a result of audit have been reviewed and necessary follow up has taken place to determine if actions taken could be judged as being adequate.
Assist the Chief Auditor in the administration of the Internal Audit department. Assignments related to the administration of the Internal Audit department have been handled to the satisfaction of the Chief Auditor.
Assists in various Internal Audit department activities:
Annual SOX 404/FDICIA (FDIC Improvement Act) test effort. SOX 404 test work has been performed up to the standards determined by the Chief Auditor and within the specific time frame expected.
Provides assistance with the external audit of the bank and/or similar engagements working with outside professionals, executing test procedures on critical internal controls selected by the external auditor for purposes of the audits and/or similar engagements.
Confirmations have been prepared by the required date as assigned by external auditors.
Ensure compliance with all regulations, policies, and procedures.
For this position, you must have at least 10 years of bank auditing experience is preferred.
Candidates with degrees (Associates, Bachelor’s) required.
Broad knowledge of audit, accounting, bank operations, bank compliance, and information technology
Strong leadership and communication skills
Knowledge of banking products and services
Must be highly-organized and able to manage many concurrent projects.
