Description:

Reporting to the Departmental Administrator and working closely with all Directors of Operations, Finance, Revenue Cycle and Human Resources, the Director will provide analytical, financial, and strategic support to the Department of Radiology and Joint Venture with partner hospital. The incumbent will be responsible for the following

  • Assist Departmental Administrator to improve operational and financial performance of Consolidated Radiology departments. Make ongoing recommendations to improve operational performance including but not limited to personnel reductions
  • Plan, implement and monitor departmental operating revenue budget in collaboration with department chair and CUMC senior finance management. Monitor and recommend budget revisions.
  • Participate in the development of operational policies. Review department processes, procedures and protocols as requested.
  • Work closely with CUMC FPO and CRO offices to enhance departmental faculty practice revenue. Implement improvements of billing processes; advise management staff on all aspects of physician billing policies and procedures. Identify opportunities for increased practice revenue.
  • Work closely with CPPN and departmental credentialing personnel to ensure accurate and timely physician enrollment in third party and managed care plans.
  • Represent Consolidated Radiology on committees, task forces and work groups as requested.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional cash management policies. Oversee bank reconciliation process.
  • Prepare financial reports for a variety of funding sources. Analyze departmental financial performance.
  • Hire and direct financial work of administrative and support staff. Provide ongoing training and development of the group.
  • Hire, train and oversee departmental accounts payable and purchasing activities.
  • Advise faculty and administration in long-range financial planning.
  • Develop departmental audit processes. Oversee the implementation and monitor action plans to address deficiencies. Ensure compliance with practice plans guidelines.
  • Implement administrative systems to control and manage expenditures and revenue. Provide guidance to faculty & staff.
  • Administer finance training sessions for operating units.
  • DAF authority on financial and purchasing activities.
  • Serve as a liaison with central administrative offices at CUMC on all financial activities of the department.
  • Serve as an interim Director of Finance with all the functions relevant to financial activities of this department

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree plus seven (7) years of progressive related experience in a health care environment. Master's degree is highly preferred as well as fluent understanding of fund accounting and knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Excellent oral/written communication, professional, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly proficient in analytics, exceptional finance skills.
  • Exceptional computer skills, with emphasis on Excel, required to create and maintain complex financial models that employ many variables and various computer models. Prior experience with databases is essential.
  • Strong working knowledge of financial systems. Knowledge of budgets, medical billing, and revenue cycle.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams in a fast paced, changing environment, take initiative, solve problems, lead projects, and perform multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work with multiple stakeholders in matrixed department and organization.
  • Exceptional leadership skills to manage and collaborate with teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables including Look Ups, etc.) and University systems (ARC, COGNOS, & EPIC) are highly desirable.
