Job Overview:
The LGBTQ+ Coordinator /Navigator coordinates all aspects of the day to day operations and outreach, serving the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender patients. This role will have a heavy focus on Navigation Services to the Transgender community as it relates to gender affirmation health care and gender affirmation surgeries. The duties include coordinating patient access/care to the PROUD Centers, patient relations, and outreach to the Community.
Qualifications:
Required:
Strong background in working with the LGBTQ+ community with special emphasis on access to primary and specialist care for the health of the LGBTQ+ Community
Strong background on Transgender Affirming Healthcare
1-3 years of experience working with and strong understanding of the needs of LGBTQ+ patients,
At least one year with a focus on Transgender patients
Experience with and strong understanding of the needs of transgender patients including but not limited to behavioral health, hormone replacement therapies and gender reassignment surgeries
Appreciation and knowledge of cultural diversity and sensitivity
Appreciation and knowledge of Diversity and Inclusion
Effective verbal and written communication
Computer literate, including email, MSWord, Outlook,
Maturity, good judgment, accuracy and attention to detail
Flexibility and ability to work as a team player required
Scheduling Requirements:
Day shift
Rotating weekends and holidays may be required
Full-Time
Essential Functions:
Serve as a resource, consultant and liaison to the PROUD Center
Manage Gender Affirming Surgery Navigation services
Develop and present campus-wide presentations on relevant healthcare topics
Provide trainings on transgender healthcare
Provide educational resource materials to individuals and groups
Plan, coordinate, and assess programs and activities as they pertain to the success and development of the PROUD Center,
Assist in the development of policies and procedures, newsletters, brochures, web pages, etc, that can be used to promote diversity, inclusion, and the PROUD Center
Lead, encourage, and work cooperatively with Hospital departments, Administration, and staff to improve healthcare for the LGBTQ+ Community
Represent the PROUD Center to the public and work to increase awareness of the organization
Provide healthcare navigation to the LGBTQ+ patients seeking care at the PROUD Gender Center
Provide LGBTQ+ cultural sensitivity training to groups in the community
Participate in meetings related to the PROUD Gender Center and Diversity and Inclusion programs at RWJUH
Compile data and complete forms as required for program to reflect the day to day Operations of the PROUD Gender Center
May conduct intake/ assessment interviews, with oversight from the Clinicians
